What Items does HELP need?
While the racks look full, we are always in need of women’s and men’s clothing that is both functional and attractive, in all sizes. XL and XXL sizes are in high demand, as well as children’s clothes, from infant to age 12. Why Donate? The first benefit is the opportunity to work with others like you, who enjoy being of service. Your fellow volunteers are friendly, cordial, helpful and looking for company. The working conditions are clean bright and cheery; there’s plenty of free, secure parking; and even a comfortable lunch room, complete with microwave. There’s no heavy lifting – just the opportunity to use any skill you have and are willing to share. Your service will be appreciated, whether it’s two or four hours a day, once a week or every other. How to Donate Clothes Please bring clean clothes to the loading zone in front of our building, located at 5919 W. National Avenue. We’re open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday through Friday, and will help you unload your donation. NEW DONATION DROPOFF SITE The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist at 831 N. Van Buren Street is open during regular office hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to accept clean clothing. This is a great opportunity for those who live or work on the east side of Milwaukee or work Downtown. Other Donations Stocks, bonds and insurance policies can all be donated to the Help Center. Adding the Help Center to your will is another good way to remember us as well as other charities. We are an accredited not-for-profit corporation with an all-volunteer staff and an independent board of directors dedicated to our work. You can be assured 100% of your donation goes to the poor – directly in the form of clothes, or indirectly through gifts occasionally made to other non-profit organizations serving the needy in other areas. |
